About L&T

A LITTLE ABOUT ME:

I love to create outline portraits of your photos - helping you hold onto & display your special memories - thank you for that honour

I was born in Zimbabwe - I do miss it sometimes but I’m thankful to call Australia home

I’m grateful for our home and life on the Sunshine Coast

I love adventuring through life with my husband Matt - the mountain peaks and the valleys alike

I love cuddles with our puppy - Pepper (Peps - she’s several years old but she will always be our puppy)

I love snuggles with our son Max and watching him grow and play and learn

I daily miss our son Levi and long for the day we meet again in heaven

I love Jesus and strive to live a life that honours him

I enjoy spending time outside (so long as the conditions are prime and the ‘squitos aren’t out…)

I am awed by the world God has created

I particularly love pine forests, pebbled streams, open spaces with unobstructed views of the sky and the ocean

I get flustered by mess and disorder and germs

I’ve been to New York 3 times and I’d go again

I have a passion for creating a beautiful, welcoming yet functional atmosphere in whatever space I’m in - exposing a moment of peace in a world of chaos

I am conscious of the music I listen to - intentionally only listen to music to draws my heart and mind to Jesus - because when my eyes are on him they aren’t on the things that scare me

I do not have a passion for sport

I get hangry

I like to lie down and look up at the sky

I like tea - but probably not as much as the number of tea related gifts I’ve received over my lifetime would suggest

I like flowers- particularly daisies and sunflowers

I have a wee little obsession with drying and keeping some (if not all) of the flowers I’ve been gifted

I wrote this list in the middle of the night when I couldn’t sleep

A LITTLE ABOUT THE ART:

At “Line & Tide” I love to create outline drawings of your photos to help capture and celebrate your favourite people and favourite memories together. I choose to leave the faces out so my designs are a little bit abstract, have a little bit of intrigue, but spark a memory for those in the portrait. I love that it's not a perfect reflection of the people but leaves a little to the imagination and opens opportunity to tell the story behind the picture - the people you were with and the adventures you were having at the time. A fun way to mark the significance of a special moment.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN:

In a season where I had no work and I’d run out of ideas for #kimslittleadventures my husband asked me to draw him something for his desk at work.  I drew a portrait of us in new York on our honeymoon and so started the portrait journey.  At first I was creating more for us, and then taking orders from friends (and friends of friends) and finally officially opening for business in 2020, mid pandemic.

The print collection started with this goofy zentangle elephant (heavily inspired by an image I found on Pinterest but drawn completely by me) on a page from an old dictionary.  He was later redrawn neater and clearer when several friends expressed an interest in purchasing a print.

BEHIND THE NAME:

When I first started sharing my art projects on social media (Instagram in particular) – I would alternate sharing a drawing (line) and an image of the ocean (tide) – because its all about the aesthetic of the grid right?? (And that's what the cool kids were doing at the time so in my attempt to be cool I shamelessly copied that vibe. It was also very cool to have a "... & ..." business name, so....) when the business became official, the name stuck.

SAY HI:

Thanks for reading about me and my art. Say hi over on  instagram / on the  contact page. I would love to get to know you and create something special for you and your loved ones.
